A. Michael Dufilho is engaged primarily in commercial transactions, including negotiating commercial leases, conducting title examinations, issuing title insurance policies, drafting loan and security documents, stock sale agreements, asset purchase agreements and mergers and he represents lenders and borrowers in commercial, secured lending transactions related to direct loans, and taxable and tax free bond transactions, including acting as local counsel in multi-state transactions. Mr. Dufilho’s practice also involves Uniform Commercial Code issues and agricultural lending, as well as extensive mineral title examination work.
Mr. Dufilho graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University in 1969 with a B.S. in accounting. Mr. Dufilho graduated from Louisiana State University Law School in 1972 where he was a member of the Louisiana Law Review and the Order of the Coif. While at LSU, he was a member of ROTC where he rose to the rank of Senior Colonel and Corps Commander and he received his commission as a Lt. in the United States Army. Mr. Dufilho joined Taylor Porter as an attorney in 1972.
Mr. Dufilho is a member of the Louisiana Bankers Association, Bank Counsel Section, and has been involved in drafting legislation involving various banking issues and agricultural lending practices. Mr. Dufilho is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association and has lectured on secured lending practices.
Representative Experience:
A minor portion of Mr. Dufilho’s practice also includes involvement in commercial litigation and he has also authored numerous appellate briefs and has successfully argued cases in the Louisiana appellate courts.
